6 Tips for Losing Weight This Summer

Summer is finally here and for many that means shorts, sleeveless shirts, bathing suits and other revealing sportswear. We can’t hide under our bulky sweaters and coats anymore. If the thought of more revealing clothes makes you want to jump ahead to January, never fear. With the help of www.sucralose.org,  you can slim down this summer and enjoy yourself. The following 6 tips can help you shed pounds and embark on a healthier lifestyle.

  • Drop the “weight” with “weights”
If you’re not toning and tightening by using small free weights, weight machines, toning bands, etc., you may want to consider it. Although muscle weighs more than fat, those who have more muscle, appear leaner – giving them a sleeker appearance. (If you’ve been building muscle you may have noticed that although the scale has not moved as much, your clothes are fitting better.) And, muscle tissue burns more calories (even at rest) than fat tissue, so you’ll be burning more calories even while you sleep!
  • Forget cooking
Who wants to cook over a hot stove when the temperature is 95° and above? Instead, opt for simple salads. Use a variation of greens and top with lean chicken or fish, an array of fresh vegetables and a low-fat/low-calorie dressing. Make the salad your main meal by incorporating unusual items such as nuts and avocado (just be sure to watch portion sizes – although nuts avocado contain the “good fats,” they also contain calories), beans, low-fat cheese and more.
  • Use the extra daylight to your advantage
During summer, the days are longer, so use this extra time to your advantage. If you workout in the morning, take an evening stroll after dinner. Not every activity you partake in has to leave you dripping with sweat. Taking a leisurely half-mile stroll will burn 50 calories (one mile burns 100). Although it may not sound like much, over the course of five days that could add up to 250-500 burned calories per week. And, it’s more than you burn watching you’re favorite re-runs on the tube.
  • Hit the produce aisle
Fruits and vegetables are readily available (and less expensive) during the summer. Think peaches, blueberries, watermelon, carrots, cherry tomatoes and more! Fresh fruits and veggies make the perfect snack – just wash (and sometimes peel) and eat! Lower in calories, full of fiber and antioxidants (not to mention that fruits are naturally sweet) – what more could you ask for?
  • Check out the wide array of light products on the market
If you’re looking for a cool, summertime treat, check out the “juice bars” in your grocers’ freezer. Most contain fewer calories than many desserts (especially the low-calorie versions), but taste great and are very refreshing.  If you happen to be in the mood for ice cream, there are several light ice cream flavors on the market.  In addition, there are a wide variety of low-calorie juices (sweetened with sucralose) that will quench your thirst in the hot weather without ruining your diet.
  • Make your vacations active
During the summer many of us gravitate toward water, heading to lakes, the ocean, pools, etc. However, instead of just sunbathing – get moving. Take a walk on the beach, go water skiing, swim a few laps in the pool, play a game with your kids (remember Marco Polo?), conduct a “who can swim out to the rock the fastest” contest, try surfing, boogie boarding or wind sailing – you get the idea. The possibilities are really endless. Instead of sitting on the sidelines this summer, get in the game.
It doesn’t matter if you have 5, 10, 20 or more pounds to lose – just remember to have fun this summer and look for small ways you can make a big impact on your health.
